Fridge freezers are the appliances, which you need to have in your kitchen if you want to avoid unnecessary wastages of food. This is because they perish fast. Fridge freezers are the ultimate kitchen appliances that help in keeping your food fresh for longer. They are of different sizes tailor made to suit every family size. Others are even larger for use in restaurants, cafes and other commercial ventures, which involve use of perishable products. However not all fridge freezers are good and one needs to be careful while shopping for a fridge freezer. There are several issues that you need to carefully look into before settling on to buy the best fridge freezer.

You have to first decide that which fridge freezer you want to buy. There are three different varieties of fridge freezers that you can choose from, namely: free-standing model, built-in fridge freezers and American-style fridge freezers. Freestanding fridge freezers are the most common variety in the market. They are very cheap and easy to fit in the kitchen. However, they are of a smaller capacity and not as stylish as the others are. The built-in or integrated model can blend well into your kitchen, since it is hidden behind a door. It is slimmer and more compact than the other models. Its only con is that there are fewer models in the market to choose from and are also a bit expensive. As the name suggests, American-style fridge freezers are trendy and can style statement in your kitchen. They offer larger storage capacity than other conventional models and have additional features like icemakers and water dispensers. Some of the possible drawbacks of the American-style fridge freezers are that they cover so much space, can have higher running costs; they are more expensive and at times have narrow freezer compartments.

Another aspect that you need to look for when buying a fridge freezer is the energy efficiency. Refrigeration often accounts for almost 20% of the electricity used by domestic appliances. Hence, you need to ensure that the type of fridge freezer that you buy helps in reducing the energy costs and the environmental impact in the home.

Depending on the size of your family or the duties that you perform with your fridge freezer, you need to settle on the one whose capacity suits you. Some look so big from outside but have very limited space on the inside. Hence, you need to make sure that the dimensions best fits your plans and can serve you best.

Some fridge freezers have additional features like water coolers, wine racks, adjustable shelves, thermostats, ice dispensers, salad crispers, digital displays and many more, which can bring a great difference to your home.

You also need to buy a fridge whose climate class fits the area you live in. This indicates the range of room temperature in which the fridge freezer can operate. The N class and the SN class are some of the ones, which are mostly used in the UK because of the room temperature of about 32 degrees, which is most prevalent in the region.
